Wines carved in stone
The origins
The will, the audacity and
the woods
Some people say we are brilliantly crazy. The truth is, we are tirelessly passionate.
We fell in love with this estate even before seeing its potential, hidden under a thick layer of briars and collapsed ground. Over time, we cleaned the area to take it away from the woods, and give it back to the stone walls and vineyards. In this trail we are going to write our own, new history.
The country
Hard as rock, sweet as wine
Petraia arises from/overlooks the hills of Adrara San Martino, in a sun-kissed valley, in an area that has been taken away from the forest. Its character is rocky and bold, like the steep perrons and stone walls that shape its landscape. From the dry stone walls, recreated according to the traditional method, the vines grow and ripen precious grapes/fruits.
The ground
The culture of the ground, the culture of the
vineyard
Between narrow passages, below a seemingly dry layer hides a generous soil, rich in water and minerals that nourish the plants. This is the secret that made this area famous and renowned between the 19th and the 20th centuries and that we rediscovered and enhanced, to make it our
very own signature.
The method
A challenge that rewards the brave
The peculiar pattern of the terraces bears ancient rhythms, made of tireless dedication, commitment (to the environment) and patience. From the soil tillage to the harvest, every activity in the vineyard is entirely carried on by hand, climbing on the perrons that stretch through a hectare of land and along four kilometers of dry stone walls.
The vineyards
We reject every label
The high amount (o the high concentration??) of vines gives a small quantity, but superior quality production. The Merlot and Petit Verdot varieties grown here are used as single-varieties or in blends inspired by the French crus, to create unique wines, far from every classification attempt.
